Today, I spent time with my two children — and I realized something quietly profound. I am no longer talking to kids. I am talking to adults. People with dreams, opinions, questions, convictions, and direction. And that realization stopped me in my tracks.
There was a time when raising them alone felt overwhelming beyond words. Being a single mom meant carrying responsibilities that were never meant for one person to bear alone. There were seasons of exhaustion, fear, financial pressure, and emotional fatigue. There were days I wondered if I was doing enough, or if my limitations would one day become theirs.
But today, as I listened to them talk about their lives and dreams, I felt deep gratitude. It is a miracle that I was able to raise them to this point. It is a miracle that they are standing, growing, and pursuing what matters to them. It is a miracle that we can now encourage each other — not from a place of dependence, but from mutual respect and love.
Looking back, I know I did not do this alone.
There were teachers who cared. Friends who showed up. Mentors who guided. Strangers who helped at the right time. Opportunities that appeared when we needed them most. And behind it all, God’s quiet intervention — steady, unseen, but faithful.
It truly took a village. And I now see that village clearly.
Raising my children as a single mother was never just about survival. It was about grace — grace that covered our gaps, strengthened us when I was weak, and carried us further than I thought possible. Every step of their growth feels like evidence that God was involved, even when I doubted myself.
Today, I am thankful. Not because the journey was easy, but because it was meaningful. Not because I was perfect, but because God was present. Watching my children grow into who they are becoming feels like standing in the middle of a living miracle.
