“Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” — Matthew 6:8
When I used to read the story of how God provided for the Israelites daily, I was always amazed—and honestly, a little critical. I would say to myself, They are so foolish. How could they doubt God when He sent food from heaven every single day? They witnessed a daily miracle, yet they still chose unbelief.
But now? Now, I understand them. I can relate to them.
In moments of panic, when fear clouds my mind, I realize how easy it is to let anxiety take over instead of trusting God. Being a single mom, I am used to the feeling of "barely enough." There have been painful times when I could hardly put food on the table. I remember moments where I had to mask the scarcity with a smile, telling my kids we were having a special "veggie-free day" just so they wouldn't know that rice and eggs were the only things we had left.
But God never failed me. And the miracles didn’t stop when my children grew up.
My children are now spread across three different countries. This year, my youngest is living on her own, without her sister there to protect her. One night, she called me in distress. There was no food in her house, she couldn't get to a store, and my budget was so tight I didn't know how to help.
As a mom, not being physically there to help your child is a different kind of heartbreak. I told her I would pray, hoping I could scrape together an Amazon order the next day. But after we hung up, I just sat there and quietly asked God to help us.
The very next day, she called back. Someone who lived nearby—someone we knew—had stopped by completely out of the blue and bought her groceries.
I was amazed. I didn't expect it. And it didn't just happen once, it happened multiple times, exactly when she needed it most.
This forced me to reflect on the Israelites again. If God is committed to taking care of us daily, why do we doubt? If there is any lesson God pressed into my heart this year, it is this : He is never late. He is never early. He is always—always—right on time.
God stepped in every time. Not one day late. Not one second off. This wasn't luck. This was God being who He says He is: Provider. Father. Covering. Source.
It humbled me to realize that God loves my children even more than I do. He sees them. He protects them. He feeds them. His promise over our basic needs has never failed. Not once. Not this year. Not ever.
