When Fear Tried to Own Me

Suddenly, insomnia became my friend. Scrolling around at night becomes my comfort zone. My brain tricked me into finding pleasure in living on “what If” I live in someone's life. Nights become my enemy, and I wish not to see tomorrow, because it's frightening. I fear facing tomorrow. The daylight means I must face so many problems. Fear has a way of slipping into the room quietly

It doesn't knock.
It doesn't warn you.
It just shows up and sits on your chest until you can't breathe properly.

This year, fear became my uninvited roommate — the kind that grows louder when there’s no fear of God anchoring your heart.

It whispered things like :

  • "You're running out of time"
  • "You won't have enough money"
  • "You're failing as a mother"
  • "Everything depends on you"
  • "What if you can't handle this?"

And when you're already exhausted, fear sounds convincing.

There were nights fear kept me awake even when my body was begging for rest… And mornings where fear woke me up before my alarm did

Fear tried to own me this year.
And honestly?
For a while…it almost did.

But fear never wins when faith begins to speak.

When I finally told God,
"I don't want to live like this anymore,"
Something shifted.

Not instantly.
Not magically.
But slowly — almost quietly — God started rewiring my reactions.

Instead of spiraling, I started pausing.
Instead of panicking, I started praying.
Instead of assuming the worst, I started remembering what God already carried me through.

Every time fear tried to take over, He reminded me :

"Daughter, I got you."

Little by little, the fear that used to choke me began losing its grip.

Not because I became fearless — but because God became louder than my fear, and the fear of God finally had a place in my spirit.

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in You" — Psalm 56:3
